Pokémon Card Collecting Guide

Pokémon cards fall into three buckets: singles (one card you want), sealed product (booster boxes, ETBs, tins), and graded cards (usually PSA or CGC). The right mix depends on whether you play, collect art, or treat cards as long-term holds.

Singles vs sealed

Singles are the cheapest way to complete a set or pick up a chase card you already identified. Sealed product is for ripping or storing unopened. Modern English print runs are large — sealed is not automatically an investment. Japanese boxes often have stronger print quality and smaller print runs, which is why you will see them on our trading cards shelves.

PSA grades in plain English

• PSA 10 Gem Mint: centering, corners, edges, and surface all pass a strict bar. Premium pricing.
• PSA 9 Mint: looks excellent in hand; often a smarter buy than stretching for a 10.
• Raw cards can be cheaper, but centering and whitening are harder to return once you leave the shop. Look closely under store lighting or ask for extra photos online.
